Please read on for more details regarding this position. JOB DESCRIPTION: Purpose: Pro-actively resolve complex liability issues from a plaintiff perspective on property damage files. New assignments consist of files with values of $185,000 to $250,000. Existing inventories may include files with values from $100,000 to $250,000. Additionally, inventories may include newly assigned files in the investigative phase that have values rising up to $500,000. Files in excess of $250,000 will be co managed with the Unit Manager. Job Components: Investigate all potential theories of liability, analyze legal documents, develop subrogation theories of liability, evaluate legal liability, evaluate recovery potential and develop strategic resolution plans. The role requires aggressive pursuit, negotiation and resolution of all claims assigned. This includes communication with insureds, general adjusters, claimants, witnesses, attorneys, experts and underwriters in order to obtain and/or provide necessary information. Effective use of expert resources including the Major Case Units, Staff and Panel Counsel, Loss Prevention and Engineering and Travelers Investigative Services while controlling expensesManage and direct litigation files, including development of litigation plans and strategies while controlling expenses, and assuring cost effective resolution. Maintain quality files and computerized file documentation, with appropriate follow-up and diary dates to maximize timely recoveries. The role also requires adherence to several internal reporting procedures. Serve as a technical resource and mentorQualifications: - College degree or equivalent in business experience- Five years of litigation experience required.- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills to support decision-making - Strong communication and negotiation skills - Demonstrated organizational and time management skills to effectively manage a high volume, demanding caseload.
