Senior NOC Engineer
POSITION DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: Senior NOC Engineer
REPORTS TO: Manager of Software Support
LOCATION: Duluth, Georgia
DESCRIPTION:
This is an exciting opportunity in the Interactive Digital TV Industry working with hardware and software platforms for interactive digital TV applications. The Network Operations Center facilitates problem resolution through in-depth troubleshooting across all product lines.
JOB DUTIES/REQUIREMENTS:
· Basic and advanced trouble shooting of software, hardware, network, and cable infrastructure components for interactive digital TV applications
· Answer phones, open tickets, and respond to support requests via email
· Identify and report design issues identified in the field to development
· Perform root cause analysis on escalated issues
· Transfer knowledge to other engineers in the form of knowledge documents and one on one mentoring in a team environment
· Position requires 24/7 after hours on-call support with a rotating weekly schedule
REQUIRED SKILLS:
· Minimum of 3-4 Years Experience as a Systems Software Support Engineer and/or System Administrator in a UNIX/linux Environment - Preferably in a Cable or Telecom Environment
· Experience working in an inbound-call technical support environment
· Experience Installing and Trouble-shooting UNIX/linux Software and Operating System Components
· Strong hardware and Software Trouble-shooting Skills
· Minimum of 3 Years Experience Installing, Trouble-shooting, and Maintaining Complex TCP/IP Networks, Routing, and Physical Network Topologies
· Strong Interpersonal and Communications Skills
· Effective Customer Communication Skills Relative to the Application of Technical Products and Business Issues
· Understanding of JAVA/CORBA technologies
DESIRED SKILLS:
· Strong Functional Knowledge of UNIX/linux Shell Scripting Languages and System Tools such as BASH, PERL, VI, etc.
· Proficient with Oracle Database architecture, DBA Skills, SQL Skills.
· In-Depth Knowledge of ISA Digital Cable Architecture
· UNIX/Linus System administration. BASH Shell scripting.
· Strong Interpersonal and Communications Skills
· Effective Customer Communication Skills Relative to the Application of Technical Products and Business Issues
· Knowledge of DSM-CC, LSCPand RTSP Protocols.
· Experience with Configuring and Trouble-Shooting Scientific-Atlanta Digital Cable Systems (DNCS, QAMS and QPSK).
· Experience with Configuring and Trouble-Shooting Motorola Digital Cable Systems (DAC, NC, OM and RPD).
· Expertise in installing, trouble-shooting, and maintaining complex TCP/IP networks, routing, and physical network topologies.
· Experience encoding or modifying MPEG Transport and Program streams containing AC3 audio, MPEG audio, AACaudio and MPEG2 or MPEG 4 (H.264) video.
· Experience troubleshooting applications in a Windows environment.
