Senior Cost Accountant
Plaspack USA is a medium size privately-owned manufacturing company of polyethylene products. Plaspack is a division of Volm Companies, a manufacturer and distributor of produce packaging and packaging equipment. We are looking to fill a key role in the plant leadership team, a senior cost accountant.
In this position the senior cost accountant has responsibility for all financial activities within the manufacturing plant: supervising staff for A/P, A/R, financial planning and budgeting, maintain operating standards, monthly closing, and all reporting, as well as serving as an active member of multi-discipline Plant Leadership Team.
This position reports to the Plant Manager. The senior cost accountant has frequent contact with the Corporate Controller and other Senior Executives within the organization.
Specific responsibilities of this position are:
1. Provides analysis of business performance to the plant management team and participates with the Plant Director and Leadership Team in creative problem solving and exploitation of opportunities to drive achievement of business objectives.
2. Facilitates monthly preparation of Plant Cost Flash and works with Plant Leadership Team to accurately project impact of initiatives (what-if scenarios), etc. and reports actual, projected, and budgeted variances.
3. Ensure compliance to Company Policy and GAAP.
4. Ensure timely and accurate submission of payroll and verify all processes and procedures are in compliance as required by Company Policy.
5. Manages and develops direct report(s) on the Administrative Team; works with other managers to develop the cost and financial knowledge of their direct reports
6. Coordinates the annual budgeting process with the Leadership Team; maintains all tables and standards to build the standard cost budget in the standard cost management system.
7. Manages all plant production, inventory, and distribution systems and reporting; responsible for accuracy of bills of materials and tables within the standard cost system and other database systems.
8. Performs monthly closing using the standard cost financial management system and all other related systems.
9. Provides all monthly and period reports to the plant management team, the division and corporate in a timely and accurate fashion.
10. Responsible for assuring that all plant systems, analysis, and reporting is performed within generally recognized financial and management accounting principles.
Position Requirements
This position requires a Bachelor degree in Finance or Accounting, as well as three to five years supervision of accounting, financial, and or cost accounting activities in a manufacturing plant environment.

· Must be able to work and manage in a team environment
· Must be able to work effectively in a team based environment, and set priorities to meet deadlines and handle multiple projects
· Prior experience working with GAAP, spreadsheets, databases, and presentation graphics skills are required
· Ability to motivate and inspire direct staff and the Plant Team to achieve financial and non-financial goals.
· Must have excelled Microsoft Excel experience and ability to work in an ambiguous fast-paced environment
· Self-starter that can prioritize activities and work with little direction
