Staff Accountant With Healthcare Experience

MAIN FUNCTION

 

This position is primarily responsible for the bookkeeping and monthly financial reporting cycle for several healthcare facilities within our network. This position reports to the Region Controller.

 

 REQUIREMENTS

 

1. Experience in bookkeeping and processes that support the monthly generation of financial statements.

 

2. Prior experience in the Healthcare industry preferred. 

 

3. Experience with large accounting package preferred.

 

4. Has administrative ability, initiative, resourcefulness and analytical ability; is able to deal effectively with all groups and individuals; demonstrates good interpersonal skills.

 

5. Must be able to communicate effectively and comprehend and follow through on written and verbal communications; is capable of functioning effectively and efficiently in a stressful work environment.

 

6. Is proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook and is able to use a 10-key calculator.





 

-Track cash activity using a cash log for respective centers on a weekly basis.  This includes comparing collections to the bank statement activity and posting cash activity.  Notify and follow up with the Collections Department on checks and other deposit errors. 

 

-Prepare/post monthly journal entries for non-deposit cash items; prepare monthly bank reconciliations.

-Prepare monthly fixed asset addition/change forms for parent company staff to process in fixed asset system software.  Maintain fixed asset documentation support.

 

-Maintain capital leases and loan amortization schedules and entries (i.e., binder of lease agreements with capital lease tests and amortization schedules).

 

-Maintain contract log books and summary schedules for respective centers (insurance, rentals, maintenance, etc.).

 

-Prepare/post monthly JEs for depreciation from summary reports.

-Prepare/post monthly payroll entries and related accrual and transfer entries.

-Prepare/post all other routine monthly JEs as required.

-Analyze monthly expenses for potential manual expense accruals.  Prepare/post accrual journal entries.

-Prepare month end close checklist, open item list and monthly balance sheet reconciliations.

-Create monthly accounting binders for and maintain filing of prior month binder information.

-Assist with preparation and maintenance of Accounting Policy and Procedure Manual as requested by the Controller.

-Assist with supporting schedules for annual budget process and annual tax filings.
