Accounting Supervisor/Manager

Accountable for all Financial Accounting (including participation in financial analysis), Payroll and (potentially) Information Services in accordance with Baptista’s mission, vision and values, and under the direction of the VP-Finance.

Essential Responsibilities (ranked by priority): 
• Prepare weekly cash forecast and weekly summary of indirect expenses.
• Month-end closing of the general ledger.
• Regular financial reporting for executive management.
• Develop and monitor the annual budget; assists other managers as necessary to develop their departmental budgets and monitor their expenditures; reports budget variances; develops projections vs. budget.
• Supervise Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable, including monitoring of credit and collection activities.
• Supervise preparation of mandated government filings (income, payroll, sales & use, Commerce Dept., Unemployment) in compliance with various laws.
• Monitor internal accounting and expenditure controls compliance, reporting variances to VP-Finance.
• Streamline processes including implementation of Best Practices and systems to advance the efficiency of the department and Company.
• Oversee reconciliation of general ledger inventory balances and Accounts Payable, and maintenance of capital expenditure records and preparation of periodic capital expenditure analysis.
• Potentially manage contracted MIS services, including hardware, network and ERP
• Assist VP-Finance in the following areas: Risk management, primarily property and casualty insurance program; Banking relationship, including debt and cash management; and Contractual obligation reviews
• Special projects, such as participation in implementation of ERP throughout the organization; direct implementation of web-based financials
• Other duties as business necessitates.

Scope of Responsibility:
• Supervise staff of 1-3 people.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 4-8 years professional accounting experience (2-3 years of public accounting experience with a national or strong-regional public accounting firm strongly desired along with 2-3 years broad accounting experience as an accounting manager/supervisor in a small-to-medium manufacturing environment).
• CPA preferred, CMA considered.

Experience:
o Required: Monthly closing, financial planning & analysis, budgeting & projections, strong spreadsheet-user skills, staff supervision.
o Desired: Capital expenditures analysis and accounting, sales & use taxes, payroll and Commerce Dept. filings, standard cost system, payroll management, cash management, multiple accounting software platforms, MIS oversight.
